MEDICAL BILLS AFTER A CAR ACCIDENT

Mr. John Smith was involved in a serious car accident where his car was deemed a total loss. Mr. Smith was transported from the scene of the accident by ambulance to the emergency room of a nearby hospital. After leaving the hospital two days later, Mr. Smith was then seen by several different doctors for the physical injuries he suffered in the car accident. Several months after the accident, Mr. Smith began to receive telephone calls from his medical providers informing him that his medical bills were over $30,000.00. Moreover, Mr. Smith had additional costs associated with the accident since the at fault driver’s insurance was not active at the time of the accident for failing to pay the premium. How will Mr. Smith pay for the $30,000.00 he has in medical bills? What options does Mr. Smith have at this point?
