THE 800 POUND GORILLA


Several years ago, we successfully represented the plaintiff in a case against a certain defendant.

Just now this morning, that same defendant personally came in with a new client that they wanted to refer to us. We were a bit surprised. The new client retained us.

The 800 pound gorilla in the room was the obvious question that we wanted to ask the former defendant: “Why on earth would you refer us this new client when you were on the losing side of the case several years ago?”

We asked…they responded: “We would have won had we had you on our side.”

Flattered and grateful were the two immediate emotions that entered my mind.

EL GORILA DE 800 LIBRAS

Hace varios años, representamos con éxito al demandante en un caso contra cierto acusado.

Justo ahora esta mañana, ese mismo acusado vino personalmente con un nuevo cliente al que querían referirnos. Nos sorprendió un poco. El nuevo cliente nos retuvo.

El gorila de 800 libras en el salon de conferencia (esto es un dicho en ingles) era la pregunta obvia que queríamos hacerle al ex-acusado: "¿Por qué demonios nos recomendaría este nuevo cliente cuando usted estaba en el lado perdedor del caso hace varios años?"

Preguntamos...ellos respondieron: "Habríamos ganado si te hubiéramos tenido a ti de nuestro lado".

Gratitud fue la emocion inmediata que entro en mi mente.
